About Rotary Club Of Udaipur (R.I.D: 3054)

1958 to 2019 a journey of Rotary Club of Udaipur  

Sponsored by Rotary Club of Jodhpur, a new Rotary Club of Udaipur was born having 26 charter members ( Club number 15140) with the grant of  Rotary International charter dated 13th October,1958 and now in 2019 this club is in its 61 years life with more than 174 members out of which --- are Paul Harris Fellow( PHF)  and Multiple PHF( MPHF). The first meeting of this newly formed club took place on 18 June 1958.

Rotary in India and adjoining countries of Pakistan Nepal Bhutan Bangladesh Sri Lanka was administered through 31 Rotary International Districts including Rotary International  District 305 (later renumbered as 3050) and RC Udaipur club was its constituent member.    Effective 1st July 2013, RI District 3050 was trifurcated into RI District 3051, RID 3052 & RID 3053. Rotary Club of Udaipur had become then a constituent member of RID 3052. Once again the merger of RID 3051 & RID 3052 took place and a new RI district was born effectively 1 July 2017 as RID 3054 with RC Udaipur as its constituent member. A brief about the club activities is as-

Rotary Bajaj Bhawan The best house of service in our RID is owned and possessed by this club. Earlier the regular meetings of the club were held elsewhere and it was a long cherished desire to have own premises of the club for its activities. Our member Rtn. N.S.Likhari was the Chairman of Urban Improvement Trust Udaipur (UIT) and it was during his tenure that the land was allotted to club but taking possession was not easy. Legal battle in court by our charter member Rtn B.L.saruparia supported by our members resulted in our getting possession of land in 1990-91, The magnanimous donation by our former member Rtn. Shishir Bajaj made it possible for constructing the building and the same was inaugurated in 1992. The hall at first floor was furnished by financial donation from Hindustan Zinc Limited in the year 2017-18. This house is situated on the Fatehsagar Lake shore and offers excellent view of the lake and scenery around and is a prize property and envy of many.

Tree  Plantation -  Our motto Clean Udaipur-Green Udaipur-  undertaking on a continuing and regular basis tree plantation, distribution of plant saplings free of cost, development of Rotary Park in  Hiran Magri Sector 5 Udaipur, organizing competitions, exhibitions, seminars and giving away environmental awards.

  2. Rotary Recreational Centre for Handicapped is working in the Theosophical Lodge Udaipur premises with Matching Grant from Rotary Club of Parsons U.S.A.

  3. Rotary Emergency  Medical & Health care Unit: Rotary equipped this unit with all required equipment's & is maintaining it regularly in Maharana Bhupal General Hospital at Udaipur

  4. Cool drinking water availability: For providing cold& clean drinking water, club has installed 7water coolers at 7 different places in the city. One RO plant for drinking water is also working At Gyan Mandir School Udaipur since April 2015 A submersible pump for water supply is also installed by club in village Paliyakhedi School for benefit of school children

  5. Rotary Dev Van:  Plantation done on barren rocky hillocks of  MachhlaMagra and converted into green hill..

  6. Medical and Health Care Camps: Organizing camps for free diagnose and treatment support for Family Welfare, Diabetes, ENT, Kidney. Eyes, Cleft Lip & Palate surgery, and general health along with  free distribution of medicines, multi vitamin tablets and life saving drugs .

  1. Blood Donation camps: Our members have been donating blood for needy & poor patients.

  2. Educational Aids: Providing  text books, stationery and  school uniforms to poor school going children

  3. Social Service Camps: Organizing in remote tribal areas free camps to educate people for agriculture, cattle care

  4. School for Blind students:  Arranged construction of building of  school for blind students, Viklang Kalyan Samiti etc.    

  5. School for Deaf and Dumb Children: Donated funds for the purchase of the land and for construction of building. Construction of Hall for Vocational Training was undertaken with joint financial support from Inner-Wheel Club.

  6. Sponsored a number of candidates for professional studies overseas as per Rotary Foundation Program  and also for participating in Group Study Exchange Program

  7. Adoption of Villages: Adopted a number of  villages for overall development

  8. Donating sewing machines to women as vocational support and making them  economically self reliant.

  9. Arranged financial support for construction of a Taxi stand at ChetakCircle & construction of a drinking water hut at Sukhadia Circle.

  10. Regularly providing support to  the Police for successful organizing Traffic Safety Week

  11. Regularly organizing talks on subjects like Employer-Employee Relations, Energy Conservation, Consumer Protection, Environmental Protection, Water conservation and rain water harvesting, Tax laws, Rail network services etc.

  12. Regularly motivating people by recognizing and honoring best performing workers in varied vocations, honoring Teachers on “Teachers Day”, felicitation of senior citizens, celebrating “Children Day”  etc.

  13. District assemblies, District conferences, intercity meets, RYLA s, District Valedictory functions are organized frequently as per program allotted to us by our District Governor.

  14. Interact Clubs-   Regularly organizing and nursing Interact Clubs in educational institutions with objective of developing leadership qualities in young students and inculcating spirit of rotary in youth.

  15. Inner wheel (IW) Club is working by engaging the spouses of members of our club in Social service activities and supporting the  RC Udaipur in the service projects/activities.

  16. Rotary Service Trust (RST)- was formed for accelerating service activities of our club . RST  was registered in the year 1980-81 and all service projects/ activities  other than club service activities /projects are carried under RST. All the Past Presidents (PPs) are its Trustees. One of the Past Presidents in order of President-ship of rotary year  in continuation is nominated as Chairman with the Secretary and Treasurer of club as ex-officio secretary and treasurer of RST for the rotary year.

  17. Rotary Mela- is organized every year as a public image building of Rotary and     Fund raising activity for service activities. The sale of Raffle tickets with raffle draw and stalls of eatables, entertainment and utility items are there

  18. Asia Zone ll - R.l. Institute was successfully organised at Udaipur during 1981-82 under the leadership of our member Rtn Shishir Bajaj.

  19. Rotary Moksha Rath for carrying dead to the funeral ground, Rotary Mortuary Box for preserving dead bodies for long hours before undertaking funeral, Rotary ICU on wheels for  transporting critically sick patients, improving / uplifting the  facilities at funeral grounds Asoknagar and at Rani Road are the prestigious ongoing activities of our club.

  20. Rotary Vocational Training Center is funcationing is Ambamata area and providing skill training for book binding, tailoring & stitching, photography, making Artfacts from marble and Incense stick making etc.

  21. Regular participation in the Polio eradication program in the country

  22. Rotary Nephrology ICU in MB Hospital Udaipur is also functional.

During 1986-87 and again 1988-89 , RI had deputed our member Rtn (Dr) SK Bhargava a dental surgeon as a Rotary Volunteer for giving services to suffering humanity in to Philippines.

Our club has been receiving best club awards in the district for many years . Separate awards are received for significant achievements in different activities by club as also by our members. This club is considered as best performing club.

A number of matching grant projects were undertaken and completed including vocational center for handicapped children , providing furniture for schools at Village Railmagra and at School in village Daroli

Eye Hospital near village Debari etc. with the financial support from Divisional Commissioner, Udaipur.
